Penfolds Grange 1975
Garnet red; sweet, leather, spice and meaty aromas with some intense liquorice, almost porty nuances. Rich and concentrated with ripe, tobacco/berry fruit and touches of spice and leafiness. Quite extractive and bitter tannins make the wine a very muscular style. Could soften out.

Robert Parker Review: "A blend of 90% Shiraz and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, this vintage was considered as a "good yet tannic Grange." Certainly the tannins have become beautifully integrated in this sweet, expansive, full-bodied wine, with notes of subtle leather, melted asphalt, blackberry, and coffee. It is a very powerful, rich, deep, muscular wine with enormous concentration, plenty of glycerin and sweetness, and remarkable freshness and vigor. Drink it over the next 12-15 years.

James Halliday Review: "A marked colour change to dark red; some slighly vegetal canopy characters are somewhat unexpected on the bouquet; the palate is powerful, with flavours of leaf, berry and mint, again on the quasi Cabernet spectrum. Definitely out of the mainstream."

Purple/red; sweet, dark chocolate/briary with hints of tar roasted meat. Richly flavoured with dark chocolate/berry fruit, loose knit but slightly bitter tannins and long finish. Good overall balance but unlikely to improve. Will hold.
