James Halliday Review: "Stro red-purple; the aromas are ripe, sweet and solid, with some earthy overtones. A big, rich complex palate, but slightly chewy oak and tannins make the finish a little tough and bitter at this point. Does appear to have sufficient fruit to come into balance with further bottle age."

Somerled Shiraz 2003
This wines is made from Shiraz (100%) grapes grown in the McLaren Vale region of South Australia. It was bottled in March 2005 after aging in new and once-used American and French oak barrels. The new oak proportion was 72%, with the balance in once-used barrels.
This is a big ripe wine with the capacity to mature really well. It will gradually develop more and more complexity with further ageing and should drink at its peak from about 2007 to 2012 and live gracefully for years after that.
